New Book - That Old Jacket

Thank you for the many positive comments that we have been receiving.  I have not updated the blog lately because I have been busy completing my book.  The book is named "That Old Jacket" and was written to help  current and future generations discover where their ancestor fought during WWII.  It showcases over 140 of the uniforms from our collection to help the reader understand what a typical WWII uniform should look like and the meaning of the many devices and ribbons that are found on uniforms from this era.   The book is finally off to the printers and will be available early summer this year.  I have attached a snapshot of the cover for those you are interested in it.

American Heroes back on line

We have been offline for some time as I worked on finishing my book on WWII Uniforms.  The book showcases a uniform for every unit above the division level, lists of all WWII Campaigns and maps and how to identify and understand every device that is on the uniform.  It will be published as soon as the U.S. Army completes their review for authenticity.  The name of the book is "That Old Jacket".

WWII Remembrance Celebration Dec 7th, 2014

On December 7th American Heroes hosted a WWII event at the HCC Trinkle Center in Plant City, Florida to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day (June 6th, 1944) Operation Market Garden (Sept 17th, 1944) the Battle of the Bulge (Dec 16th, 1944) and the Invasion of Iwo Jima (Feb 19th, 1945).  Five WWII Veterans participated in the event by greeting the visitors and signing autographs.  They had a blast meeting the younger generations and having a chance to tell their stories.  We need to do more to remember this Generation of Americans who sacrificed so much to ensure victory.

70th Anniversary Battle of the Bulge Remembrance Celebration

If you are in Florida on December 7th, 2014 please stop by our uniform show to see 108 uniforms displayed in honor of the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge..  The event will be held at the HCC Campus on Park Road , Plant City Florida, from 10:00 to 4:00. The HCC Campus is located 1/2 mile South of the I-4 Park Road Exit on the left hand or East side of the road.  The Plant City High School Raider ROTC Team will present the colors at 9:45 to open the event.

MacDill Air Force Base D-Day + 70 years

We recently had the opportunity to present our D-Day program to several hundred Airmen at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.  The presentation took place on June 5th during a remembrance ceremony for the June 6th, 1944 D-Day invasion of France.  It was a real pleasure to be able to interact with the generation that has taken the brunt of the action during the two recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  They and their commanders were a great team to work with.  After the ceremony we were honored by being presented 4 different challenge coins for excellence.  Check out the photos under the MacDill AFB Tab.

Site Update

Today I added a new page 17 for German Knights Cross officers along with a new tab for the USS Weeks and a sailor named Jerome Levin that sailed on it.  This is a history site with 1000's of photos that preserve the memory of all WWII vets regardless of the country they fought for.

Site Update

If you have not checked out the site recently please do so.  I have added numerous categories and pictures to the site.  Most of the changes have been added to the Germany section with over 60 original pictures from the DAK and pictures of Hitler's Generals.

Site Update

The site has been updated to include the service awards for Germany, Russia and Japan along with many new pictures of tanks, planes and ships.
