American Heroes - Preserving WWII History
Battle Flag of the USS Weeks - Flown during the invasion to retake the Phillipine Islands during 1945 and remained the ships flag until after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The USS Weeks was the first US Surface vessel to enter the Sea of Japan and Tokyo Bay after the bombings. Seaman Levin climbed the mast and replaced the battle torn flag on August 16th retaining the original flag for the duration of cruise.
